NICHD Deploying Lombardi Business Process Management (BPM) Suite

NIH’s Child Health and Human Development Institute selects Teamworks BPM Suite to Manage Grants Processes

Austin, Texas – November 19, 2008 – Lombardi®, a leader in business process management (BPM) software, today announced that the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), has selected its award-winning Teamworks® BPM software suite to support the NICHD grants and contracts planning business processes across the organization. NICHD research on fertility, pregnancy, growth, development, and medical rehabilitation strives to ensure that every child is born healthy and grows up free from disease and disability.

TechTrend, Inc., one of Lombardi’s small business consulting and services partners to the U.S. Government, provided the Teamworks BPM software, professional services and training for NICHD’s new grants planning process solution.

Established in 1962, the NICHD conducts and supports laboratory research, clinical trials, and epidemiological studies that explore health processes; examines the impact of disabilities, diseases, and defects on the lives of individuals; and sponsors training programs for scientists, doctors, and researchers to ensure that NICHD research can continue.

NICHD is deploying Lombardi Teamworks as a strategic application to manage its grants planning processes. Additionally they will utilize Teamworks for Office™ and Teamworks for SharePoint™ to assist in process collaboration and ubiquitous adoption. The new processes will be used by key NICHD staff and medical professionals that initiate and submit requests for research grants. The Teamworks BPM solution will reduce the manual effort involved in the collection and routing of the grants requests, manage review and approval efforts, and provide NICHD executives with greater visibility into their status. The audit capabilities of Lombardi Teamworks will also ensure the capture and management of fine-grained details for every grant approval as required by their regulatory oversight, including who submitted it for approval, who reviewed it, when it was changed and by whom, as well as when, why and who approved the grant.
